Shads update

Well I realized that I have not written a post about Shad in a while (that is very unusual). So I thought I would let you all know how he is doing. He had a very had time with going on the road trip to Chico and then recovering from the road trip to Chico but after a few days, all is well and even better. He has decided to trade in his (4) 30 minute naps for (2) 2 hour naps and I am loving it. He has also gone back to sleeping through the night and that has made the world of difference in my life. I is still not really crawling however he does do this weird inch worm type crawl, I thought you might like to see. Needless to say he is our entertainment these days.

Yummy Soup

Today we are getting together with my relatives for dinner (we do it every fast sunday) and today we are having soup and salad. I have to bring a soup so I decided to finally try to make a recipe I got from a friend and it turned out amazing and was so easy. It only took me about 40 minutes to make from start to finish. Here is the recipe if you want to try.

Creamy Chicken & Wild Rice Soup

Tried and true. I made this for lunch today and it was so delicious! I had leftover chicken and leftover wildrice, and this made the yummiest soup. It is definitley worth trying. I really don't think exact measurements matter, just throw in what you got.

Abt 1-2 cups cubed chicken, cooked
Abt 2 cups cooked wild rice
3 stems celery, chopped
1/2 sweet yellow onion
1 cup sliced carrots
3 slices bacon chopped
2 tbsp butter
A few dashes of parsley flakes
2 cans cream of chicken
2 cups milk
About 2 cups water (or until you reach the desired consistency, it is super thick without the water)
Salt & Pepper to taste

In a large pot, dump in your butter, veggies and bacon and let simmer on medium heat until veggies are soft. Add the cream of chicken soup and milk. Stir until smooth consistency. Add parsley flakes. Add the cooked rice and chicken. Then add water until you reach your desired thickness/thinness. I let it simmer on low for about an hour while some cornbread cooked and then served, it was wonderful.

THANKS STACY!!

I think my new goal is to try a new recipe from her blog every week, we will see how that goes.

The best deal in Chico

For a while now I have been looking for a double stroller that I like so I can take Shad and Cole for walks once the weather improves. I hated everything I found because they were either as long as a limo or as wide as a hippo and that just didnt seem enjoyable to me trying to maneuver that around. I was talking to Allissa one day about my dilemma and she told me about the stroller she had called a Phil and Teds so I started looking into it ans soon realized that such a nice stroller comes with a not so nice price, and the search began...the search for a good deal. I started looking on craigslist and ksl to see if I could find one used. I was looking in every city that I had family or friends that could pick the stroller up for me. After lots of searching I found a deal in Redding (a little over an hour north of Chico). The stroller she had she bought for $550 new and had only used it a couple time, I was sceptical that that was all that she used it and was worried that it would be in a worse condition than she described. The first day we were in Chico we drove up to Redding and she was not lying the stroller looked brand stinkin new like it was just taken out of the box SWEET!! And it gets better instead of having to pay $550 for a brand new stroller I got this one for only $325 and that included the double seat!! I used the stroller all weekend on our adventures and love it, I think I got more use out of it in that one weekend than the previous owner did the whole time she had it. At first I didnt love the color but I dont mind it now and it is difinitely worth the good deal I got on it.

Chillin in Chico

Because most of my family and my sister had Spring Break off we decided to go see where Bekah has been living and will be for the next few years. All that were planning to go were my Mom, Dad, Angie, Luke, Shad and me! Well at midnight the day before we left my other sister decided to go into labor (well it really was not her decision) so Angie and my mom decided to stay home to help her out, so our tour group got smaller very quickly (we enjoyed the extra space in the car). The drive out there was not so good due to Shad and his loath for the roadtrips, he fussed most of the way and most of the trip because he was not sleep well and neither did I for that matter (sharing an airbed with your 9 month old son will do that to you). The first day we were there we just toured downtown Chico and Chico State campas which is beautiful!! We went into a bunch of the little shops there and I bought Shad his first Klean Kanteen, if you go to Chico you know what those are but for those of you who dont here is a pic. Shad actually hates drinking out of it but Im sure in due time he will love it if it is the last thing I do ;) I got one as well and I love mine. Friday was very relaxing, we started the day at Trader Joes (one of my favorite stores, they really need to get one out here) where I found an awesome deal on natural body wash, shampoo, and conditioner and it smells amazing, I really hope I like how it makes my hair feel. The afternoon was spent at "1 mile" which is a man made pool in the middle of the river in Bidwell Park, it is awesome and I would love for them to do this to the Dam up the Provo Canyon. We wanted to swim but it was way to cold so I just put Shad and my feet in and yes they froze and shad hated that even more then the roadtrip. We just ended up waling around the park, napping, playing cards and boche ball oh and enjoying the entertainment of the old man trying to juggle. That evening we all went on a hike up Monkey Face (Shads first hiking experience and mine carrying him in a baby carrier). The hike was really beautiful but i cant say it was relaxing esspecially because I am still out of shape and had the extra weight of Shad on me. Overall I am glad we did it though. Saturday morning we went to the farmer's market which I always love and got the most delicious strawberries and a handmade cutting board. That evening we went to Paradise (20 mins from Chico) and visited some old friends from San Diego. We woke up early the next morning to drive home and that proved to be just as hard on Shad as the drive there. We spent a lot of time trying to entertain Shad to keep him happy. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay in Chico but both Shad and I are very happy to be in our own beds!!

Tongue Happy

So Shad is yet again doing something that just makes me laugh every time. We thought him to clap a while back but then on Sunday he started sticking out his tongue every time we clapped I dont know why but I still think it is hilarious.

Yet another sweet deal THANKS ALISSA

So this is not just a deal it comes with a story too, lucky you:) So in order to get this super sweet deal, on Huggies diapers, you have to print out coupons at coupons.com. The first catch is that you can only print 2 per computer so that was a chore on its own trying to access a bunch of computers and printers so that I could print as many as possible. Then you go to Walgreens where they are having a sale on diapers and if you spend $25 or more you get a $10 gift certificate to use next time, so it was worth to work.

Here is the story that goes along with. All the Walgreens in UT county we fresh out of Huggies because of the sweet deal and the location in Provo was to get a shipment in at 11:00. I went on my saving spree with Sarah because it would make it more fun. I picked her up at 10:30 and we stopped at her sister's house (so she could print off some coupons) and then picked up lunch so we could pass the time before the delivery truck was to arrive. We hung out for a bit then wandered around the store for a while til they started loading up the shelves. We were lucky enough to get the sizes we needed but that wasn't where the adventure stopped like we thought it would, it was just beggining:) I got up to the register and asked to make 2 trasactions so I could get 2 $10 coupons back, he said that that was not possible that they would only give one per customer.....ok so I had him start ringing it up (eventhough every other Walgreens would let me do 2 transactions oh well). I gave him my hard earned coupons and after he examined them he told me that he could not accept ANY of the because the number under the bar code was the same and then he slammed them down on the counter, and no I am not making that up (accusing me of copying the coupons). I procceeded to to tell him that I did not copy them and that is how they came. Luckily one of the ladies behind me chimed in and said that we all had the same coupons and they worked, so he called the manager over. When the manager arrived she procceded to tell him that I could use the coupons but before she left I asked about making 2 trasactions and she said it was fine....no kidding....did I get an apology of course not! He then would not let me use my $10 coupon that I got from a previous purchase because then the number of coupons would exceed the number of items I was buying, ok then use the $10 cert. and not one of the other coupons, it took him a while to understand that part too. Then when my transactions were finally complete (by this point my line was completely empty and there was a ridiculous like behind the other cashier...wonder why) he told me I had more diapers in my cart then I paid for. I told him "I know, I am saving them for my sister", he then told me that I couldnt same them for her. I told him I would not go anywhere and stay right there where he could see me and he said that we were NOT ALLOWED to hold them in any way and came over and took them off my cart!! Oh my goodness, never in my life have I been accused of cheating and trying to steal all in a few minutes. Needless to say I told the on site manager about that employees inapropiate behavior and she said that she would take care of it and that that was not unusual for this particular worker.

Although it was an adventure and a bit of a tramatic experience it was totally worth the sweet deal I got on diapers. OH the things us mothers will do for a good deal.

Making money

In attempts to make a little spending money I have been looking for really good deals and selling on ebay. I have found a few good deal here and there but not a whole lot. Well the other day my good friend Sarah (thanks again) told me about a really big sale they were having a quicksilver so I headed right down. I was able to pick up thousands of dollars of clothes and accessories for just a few hundred. Talk about a SWEET deal. I just really hope they do well on ebay.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away

I get so excited when Shad learns to do things on his own. This is just one of those things.

Bedhead

I thought you guys would like to see what a short haircut looks like in the morning. I actually thing this may be one of the reasons I like short hair, it is very entertaining in the morning for me and everyone I see.

Fun with uncle Luke

Its no secret that Shad loves his uncle Luke and here is a little insight as to why he loves him so much, Its never a dull day with Luke
